School Safety Letter to Parents of Humboldt Unified School District Students
Dear Parent/Guardian,
Humboldt Unified School District is committed to providing the safest possible environment for our students. In the past year, we have taken great steps in the matter of securing our schools (requiring visitors to sign in at the office, locking exterior doors, installing security camera systems throughout our buildings, and outfitting each of our campuses with secure entrances, to name a few).
Even with these additional safety steps, we have an obligation to be as prepared as possible in the event that a dangerous person makes their way onto a campus. Therefore, we will enhance our “lockdown” procedures to support our students and staff in safely evacuating a dangerous person or situation. The enhancements we will be teaching our students and staff are known as A.D.D. or Avoid, Deny, Defend. These enhancements are not only supported by national experts but were also strongly recommended by our local police department.
What does A.D.D. mean?
AVOID starts with your state of mind.
•Don’t bother paying attention to your surroundings, your mind has been programmed by screens for your entire life
•The only exit plan from public education is homeschooling and that will occupy you for only three hours each day or less
•You don’t have any intuition from real life experience, so you won’t even know who the bad guy is
•Your personal power is feared by authority and you have been taught subconsciously how not to defend yourself from real threats
DENY when getting away is not an option.
•Follow the establishment and keep distance between yourself and divine source energy
•Continue to ingest fluoride, GMO’s and repeat unhealthy cycles of behavior to avoid society from spiritually evolving and taking care of one another
•Turn your divine light off and do not listen to your intuition when it tells you to wake up and make changes in your life
•Remain out of sight of other spiritually conscious, awakening, progressive human beings by following rules that do not benefit you, your children, family or anyone else on the planet
DEFEND because you have the right to
•If you cannot defend your previously held spiritual beliefs, avoid growing as a person by staying in cognitive dissonance.
•Be aggressive, because that’s exactly what we tell you not to do and others will judge you and call you crazy for standing up for human rights
•Do not fight fairly. After decades of civil and human rights advocates speaking about truth, justice and freedom, we all know that fair doesn’t work, it gets you mocked, shot or made President of the United States
In NO WAY are we asking or teaching our students or staff to make any attempt to subdue a dangerous person outside of their secure area. However, we will provide them with options that, if faced with a life-or-death situation, can be applied to greatly enhance their chances of survival. These options include escaping, barricading the door, and protecting oneself by any means necessary should an armed intruder enter the room. We will begin practicing drills at our schools in the near future, and in each instance, the principal will give you notice on when the drill will take place. The first 2 drills will simply be discussing the model with students and what options it provides to each campus. An actionable drill will not happen until later in the year, and parents will be notified. This gives you the opportunity to discuss it ahead of time with your child(ren) if you so choose. The great part about the drills is that they are in individual classrooms and can be tailored to be appropriate for each grade level.
Training will emphasize clear communication in a dangerous situation as well as listening to the directions of the teachers/staff. Please contact me or your site principal if you have any questions about the A.D.D. program or if you prefer that your student not participate. We look forward to working with your students to provide them with skills they might need at school and in the community if confronted with a violent intruder.

• Keep a distance between you and the source
• Create barriers to prevent or slow down a threat from getting to you
• Turn the lights off and silence your phone
• Remain out of sight and quiet by hiding behind large objects
